HAIR 101: HOW TO DO HAIR WHEN YOU DONT DO HAIR

I cannot do hair.
I grew up dancing so a bun and I was good to go and then I discovered weave and I didn't have to touch my hair at all. Both my sisters dance too so they weren't any help when it came to learning. But who cared? I didn't need to learn.
Until Isla.
When I found out I was having a girl I was so excited for a mini me decked out in skinny jeans, leather jackets and messy buns. But Isla had other plans entirely.
Isla likes princesses, ballet, Spider-Man, Dylan, tutus and princess hair. And it was Mother's Day this year when she let me know that my buns, bunches and ponies were just not cutting it anymore.

So now I'm coming at you guys with a hair post because I'm pretty damn proud of myself.
So here is my hair post for people who can't do hair.

The number one thing you need to learn is that YouTube and Pinterest are your friends.
And vodkano not really, vodka would be really unhelpful when you're trying to decipher Pinterest instructions.
The second important thing is that this takes time so snacks are super important. And iPads. And bribes.
Lastly, throw your perfectionism out of the window because at first things are going to be wonky, loose and nothing like the photos you were inspired by on Pinterest.

1. The god these Dutch braids are taking forever, I'm giving up here.

Hahaha i am not good enough to give you guys my own tutorials so here is one of my favourites:
http://pin.it/KWSmmVM

2.Yes I've learnt how to do Dutch braids, now I'm going to do fancy braids.

3. If I add a bow to these braids I can make them even more fancy.

4. Oh wow making her hair into a bow is way easier than I thought, why haven't I don't this before?

5. The now I can do hair I want to do some fancy shit for ballet.

This has been an adventure and a half but as I am a horrible perfectionist with an insane obsessive streak it's become a bit of a thing.
I think Isla may even be regretting her request for princess hair because I'm trying something fancy nearly every day now and she is getting bored of the snacks and bribes I keep throwing at her. Not literally throwing of course, I'm not throwing crackers at her head, that would be terrible parenting

Honestly, go on Pinterest.
It'll change your life.
And for someone who doesn't do hair it's helped me do pretty well.  .

RETROSPECT

I took a break.
'I didn't intend to but as it turns out being reported to social services wasn't exactly a laugh and a half and it left me feeling confused and vulnerable. Something so malicious, using my children as ammunition is a rough thing to experience. So I took a step back to reevaluate.
It also turns out that I stand by what I said before, I am not backing down to bullies. Never again. And I'm teaching my children the same.
Recently the world has been rocked by bullies. So many people have been killed by ignorant, selfish individuals that I have been aching with the world as it tries to recover.
I believe that we should all stand up to ignorance, we should stand up to bullies and strive for better. Strive to open the eyes of the ignorant before people get hurt.
And I was left with the question; what on earth I should do?Because my belief system is one thing but my fierce protection as a mother is another thing entirely. And I want to put an end to bullying, I want to teach my children not to lie down at the feet of bullies but to stand up and say "No! You cannot do this to me" but then, someone targeted me and used my children to do so and the fear that people will use children in such a way and so flippantly scares me. I was scared. I was angry.
Man I was so angry.
And my emotions kept me holding back. My fear held me back.
As a mother if someone threatens your children you will do anything you can to stop them and for me that was stepping away, shutting up and not speaking out.
But this is what I do.
This is a huge part of who I am and I am immensely proud of that.
And now not only can I talk about everything that pops up in my mind, I can honestly talk about my recovery. Recovery is lonely and isolating and bloody rough.
I can talk about that honestly.

So I'm back.
I'm back here.
I'm back on YouTube.
And I've reimagined and vaguely restructured my Instagram (hllylzbth not holz105).
Because I am entitled to do so.
My voice has worth.
I am worthy.
And absolutely no one is allowed to bully me into submission.

I strive to be an example for my children.
And this is me standing up, dusting myself off and carrying on.

THE TIME I SPENT HALF OF MY SUMMER CLOTHES BUDGET ON TUTU'S aka NOW

I didn't mean to I swear, one turned into two or three and suddenly half of the budget for Isla's summer clothes is gone and her bedroom (post following at some point. I've even taken the photos) is literally bursting with sequins and tulle. It's a problem.
No it's not.
But I'll pretend it because because I want to try and come across as at least a little bit sensible.
I'm actually dying of bit of happiness though. And this my friends, is why....

Ok so it's a biiiiiit big but who cares!? because Dylan has a matching one

Ugh Frozen. Elsa is slowly bankrupting me (note. The tutu's are absolutely not bankrupting me.
Nope, not at all.) if you want to join me in my bitterness towards Esla you can get this dress Here

Frozen! (All the heart eye emojis ever)

I think this is my favourite t-shirt in existence

Possibly one of the most wonderful outfits ever made.. So she (I) needed colours.

I basically had this dress in the 90's. Seriously considering buying embellished chopsticks for ultimate 90's babe hair.

It was around here that I realised that Isla may now own too many tutu's. Is there such a thing?
But then these ones with lace appliqué are beautiful. And technically that one is a petticoat, speaking of you can get one Here

I may have had minor palpitation when I unpacked this. It is literally a dream.

Etsy and eBay are your friends if your child has a newfound obsession with all things tulle.

More sequins and tulle Here.

No photo can do this dress justice. I want to frame it and keep it forever it is that beautiful.

And lastly....

LOOK AT IT. ITS SO BEAUTIFUL AND SPARKLY AND I WANT HER TO WEAR IT EVERY DAY BUT ALSO JEVER BECAUSE I WILL CRY LIKE A BABY IF IT GETS RUINED.

So here it is, the accidental buying of all the tulle.
I regret nothing.

WHAT ISLA WORE

Spring is here! The children love all the blossom. Dylan has learnt about triangula prisms, Isla ha started doing yoga with me, Dylan has started to watch Star Wars and loves it and Isla has a new wardrobe of beautiful things to show off  that I am dying over but they aren't practical at all (hello sequin shorts!)
But first one of the outfits she chose a few weeks ago (bevause God forbid I choose her clothes anymore)

Coat and tutu - next   T-shirt - Dylan's hand-me-downs

Doctor Martens -  £50 Schuh (also Dylan's hand-me-downs. Honestly investing in good/tough footwear is such a must for me as their feet grow really slowly. There's have been worn to death by both children and they're still in such good condition)

Horse necklace - £1.99 h&m

I LOVE these photos. She has so much sass and such a beautiful smile.
